Redesign

March 14th, 2008 by Daniel | Posted in Design | 0 Comments

I have been toiled away for weeks on this new design and I apologize to everyone who has been having problems viewing the website while I was experimenting. Even though there are still lots to do (search), I have finally reached a stage where the website is once again usable. So what’s new?

Design

First of all the biggest change that was made, the design. I have had a lot of inspiration for my personal blog which I have collated over the past months. Most notably the design inspiration has come from a mixture of sources, including simple bits, and the Wordpress theme simpla.

Blog Design 1

My original design was based on the ‘Breen’ color pallet from Kuler, but the design was scrapped for looking to similar to Bartelme’s current design. However I did keep some of the key aspects, such as the layout of the front page.

In the end, I went for a simple and subtle design.

Logo

Logos

The one element which was lacking from the previous incarnations of my site was the logo. This might seem quite hard to grasp but ‘dtsn’ is not very easy to put into the logo form. The logo went through a number of different shapes and colors, but in the end I settled for a simple plain logo, which is not too imposing.

Sidebar

The sidebar features one of my biggest commitments. In my day job working for fav.or.it I regularly come across great designed websites which I use for some inspiration. I now intend to share those inspirations with the readers of my website. Even if your not interested in anything i write, you can still look at the pretty websites.

Bugs

This design is still currently a work in progress. If you happen to stop anything amiss in the design please leave a comment below.
