New Design [Design]

Over the weekend I have been putting together a brand new design and finally managed to implement it on Sunday afternoon. Hopefully this design will be a lot easier on the eyes and will promote the blog so that I can finally get some new Readers.

Logo

Firstly the logo has been updated. It now has a brown background with a white text. The text is in the font Kelly Script, downloadable from woork.

This logo is a lot bigger and a lot more noticeable, and will hopefully start to be recognised. I will soon be

creating a favicon based on this logo. Stay tuned for a guide on creating favicons.

Layout

I now have 3 much wider columns than the two I had with my previous design. This allows the site to have a much better proportions. Trying to closely follow the fantastic smashing magazine article on the subject. This give the site a much wider sidebar which means I can extend the size of the scrapbook articles I can publish, and also fit more adverts into the side.

Adverts

Since the sidebar is now a lot wider I can fit 4 125×125 adverts into the side panel. Which are being sold through Performancing Ads who I have decided to give a try. Initially for a trail period while I build up the momentum of my blog each ad spot will be sold for $2.50 a week. You can purchase the first ad here.

You can download my old design for Wordpress here. However it was built as a custom design and has some very specific quieries in it. If anyone does install it, please email me your version so I can share it.
